A site survey is necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency when designing a DAS wireless antenna network for your building. In existing buildings, we use transmitters and receivers to determine the path loss of the wireless signals. This provides our design engineers with an accurate understanding of the structure’s composition, so they can place repeater antennas at optimal locations to ensure consistent wireless coverage throughout the building.
The usual steps in performing a site survey for wireless communication systems include:
- Review floor plans
- Identify coverage area and technologies to be supported
- Visually inspect the facility
- Run propagation tests with signal generators and software modeling tools
- Determine antenna placements
- Document results.
